One of the projects we have been working on in the last couple of weeks is connected to a pretty innovative product. I thought you might be interested on this topic.

Scientists at ENTAL Ltd. have invented a great method that can measure the speed and position of a sphere shaped object. They have manufactured a handball gate that utilizes this measurement method. The measurement system working with inoffensive infrared rays is built in the goal-posts. This measuring set up can determine the ball speed value - the speed direction when it pass thru the goal-line - and can localize the passing point in the goal.

The results of measurements are transmitted by wireless, WIFI technology. The intelligent goals are very quick and precise. The error of the velocity measured is less than 1 per cent and the variance of pass thru point localization is less than two centimeters.
